Life is often challenging.
You may be experiencing a crisis or just feel overwhelmed or dissatisfied.
Counselling offers a safe one-to-one relationship for a period of time where you can feel less alone with problems and work towards lasting change and wholeness.
Hi, I'm Lizzi.
I'm an experienced counsellor and therapist based in Greenwich, London, UK.
I work with people of all ages to offer a non-judgmental, confidential and containing space where we can explore your feelings, relationships or unwelcome and repetitive behaviours that you may be experiencing.
Whether you're experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, low self esteem or other unsettling emotions, together we can explore these, bringing insight and understanding to where these come from and how to manage them.
About Me
I have been working as a counsellor and psychotherapist for over 20 years. I was born in Africa, spent my adult years in the UK and then nine years in Wellington, New Zealand with my family, before relocating to the UK in 2019. I have worked in schools and colleges in London and Wellington, for NGOs and community agencies as well as in my own private practice.
I am a professional member, registered and accredited as a counsellor and psychotherapist with BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I work to the ethical framework of this professional body, undertake regular supervision and commit to ongoing professional development ensuring integrity and best practice.
Specialist areas
I am experienced in working with people of all ages from diverse cultures and backgrounds and specialise in working with adolescent clients and their families.
With specialist training at the Tavistock Institute in London, I have considerable experience with adolescent clients and use my skills and expertise to offer a flexible approach to help young people therapeutically explore their feelings as they navigate the often complex transition from child to adult.
Clear and secure boundaries are essential to the confidential relationship between myself and clients. When working with the unique, specific and often complex needs of adolescent clients, I sometimes work with family members if it becomes clear that this will benefit the mental health of the young person and their relationships.
Research shows that the single most important factor in whether or not counselling is effective, and brings lasting change, is the relationship between client and therapist.
It's important to find a counsellor you feel comfortable with.
How I work
The way I work with clients is informed by Psychodynamic theory. This works with the unconscious, allowing us to address past experiences which may be effecting how you feel and behave in the present. Within my work I also use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness.
